Personal Profile

I moved to London from Dublin in 2002. Four years on, I bought my first digital camera and carried it around everywhere I went.

It was certain photographs which encouraged me to get more creative. By doing so, I choose Photoshop as a tool to change the look and feel of my work. After experimenting widely with different media and show casing work to friends, it was suggested I apply for a graphic design degree.

At University I found I was constantly learning and surrounded by like-minded people. It was great to learn different techniques, to work in groups and find out new ways of designing ideas.

Since University I have worked as a freelance designer and I’ve learned you have to be ambitious but also confident and patient. Clients try to push to be more productive and give you little time to get work done. In some situations not meeting deadlines has improved my ability to deliver.  I have learned to be more organized with my time keeping and to be more thorough when asking a client to specify their requirements.

This experience working as a freelance designer has strengthened my desire to be successful, so I’m refocusing my efforts to learning and improving as a designer. I’ve realized at this time in my career, so soon after leaving University, my skills would best be developed in a more structured environment.

I’m now looking for work as a graphic designer.
